SUMMARY:CCC December Artist-in-Residence Allison Miller
DESCRIPTION:Allison Miller is an embroidery artist with an illustration and fine arts background working to bridge the gap between embroidery\, painting and fine art. She studied at Eastern Michigan University and Washtenaw Community College in their arts program and began her work in illustration. She has taught embroidery workshops for the past 5 years and has had work displayed in Michigan\, North Carolina\, and Wisconsin.\n\nMy artwork is based on capturing snap shots of everyday life melded with the fantastical. They are windows into day to day life and the imagination. I have always been interested in the surreal and how something out of place can make us feel profoundly uncomfortable or as though we have stepped in a new whimsical world. It is my goal to create a sense of peace and clarity. Sometimes that peace comes from a place of humor\, sometimes from a place of whimsy\, and sometimes both. My ultimate goal as an artist is to provoke a smile from the observer and create something that houses universal feelings of joy and warmth.
